Your Questions Answered

WHAT ARE CHEMICAL PEELS?

Chemical peels are treatments that contain natural active ingredients (usually mild acids) that remove the surface layers of the skin. This achieves a smoother, younger appearance to the skin. Chemical peels are used to treat many conditions:

  • Ageing Acne
  • Age spots
  • Lack lustre tone
  • Uneven skin tone Hormonal ageing.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT?

In some cases, this involves preparing your skin with a home care kit prior to the peel. The peel is then applied and it may feel a bit warm and tingly, but dont worry, this is normal. When the expected response is achieved, the peel is neutralised. This stops the peel from working and penetrating layers of the dermis which we do not want treating. You will not be left alone anytime during the procedure. The peel may require and aftercare kit. You will always need to apply a sun protection factor after a peel.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT PEEL IS RIGHT FOR ME?

You will have a full consultation with our nurse who will discuss your area of concern and the outcome you desire.

HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT LAST?

This is dependant on the area treated and the peel used but will generally be in the region of 30 minutes.

HOW WILL I LOOK AFTER TREATMENT?

This is dependant on the peel. Immediately afterwards there can be mild or moderate redness of the skin. This redness normally only lasts a matter of a few hours.
