WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

They are clear gels made of hyaluronic acid, a natural occurring substance found in our skin. When the filler is injected into the skin the wrinkle or fold lifts.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found throughout the body which gives volume to the skin.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The gel adds volume to the skin by attracting water to it known as ‘hydrophilic’. Immediately after injecting the skin is lifted to reduce fines lines, wrinkles and folds. It is also used to enhance cheeks, lips and jawline.

IS IT SAFE?

The hyaluronic acid in the filler is almost identical to that already present in the body. It is possible to ‘dissolve’ the product if there is any serious problems. Immediately after, the treatment site can be slightly swollen and red. This is a normal result of the injection and generally reduces within a day or two.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Serious side effects are very rare. Only temporary (lasting 12 months) fillers are used, thus making these products very safe. They can also be ‘dissolved’ should there be any complications. You will be fully consulted before any treatment to discuss the side effects in detail.
