Your Questions Answered

WHAT IS HIFU?

High-intensity focused ultrasound is a non-invasive therapeutic technique that uses non-ionizing ultrasonic waves to heat tissue. HIFU can be used to increase the flow of blood or lymph, or to destroy tissue, such as tumors, through a number of mechanisms.

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?

You may feel some discomfort, warmth or heat sensation or even a slight pain that lasts less than a few seconds during the pulsation cycle, when ultrasound energy is being applied. The discomfort is very brief and is a good sign that the collagen production process has begun.

HOW MANY SESSIONS OF HIFU WILL I NEED?

The majority of people only need one treatment. Touch-up treatments could be performed in 1 year intervals, depending in the degree of lifting and tightening required.

AFTERCARE ADVICE

All skin irritants must be stopped (glycolic/ salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinol products such as Retin A, Tazorac, Triluma, Differin, and Vitamin C) on the area being treated Advise staff when taking antibiotics.
